Evaluation of Rom com movie posters

Love Actually

Poster 1

In this poster it is made to be fitted as a billboard. The image has all the main characters of the film with the pop star higher at the back in a pose. The theme is Christmas as it has decorated trees in the background representing the time this film is set. The characters are in a line above the bow tie. It has been done like that as it is landscape. In the remaining space, the poster has reviews in different bold lettering and different size fonts to stand out to audiences of how good the film is. Then to really stand out at the top the poster has "Don't miss the biggest Romantic Comedy of the year" to attract audiences. The house-style for the poster uses a white background and a red and black text font. The font will stand out from the background but also a good mix in the title.

Poster 2

In poster two is an billboard size poster but has a few different elements compared to poster 1. In poster one the characters were in a line but on this they are placed in a square so that the bow will make it look like a present. Which at the same time creates the time of the movie which is Christmas. The title is placed on the right hand side and compared to poster one their is no reviews to hook audience. The tagline on this poster has changed to "The Ultimate Romantic Comedy". Each character on this poster is in the same pose as poster 1 but in a location. For example Hugh Grant and Liam Neeson are in a shopping lane and Bill Nighy and Rowan Atkinson are in a music video scene.

Production company mood board

This is a Mood board of different production companies. These will help give an idea to what specific elements help create a logo. This mood boards contains some of the most well known companies in the industry. Companies like Universal, Warner. Bros and Walt Disney. On a production company logo it should have a theme that the title can relate too. For example the Walt Disney pictures logo has an image of a castle to represent its genre of fairy tales and fantasy. Once it has a theme, the text style can be made to specifically follow that particular house style the theme has. For example, the Legendary pictures has the same style and colour to match the design above. It gives it that historic look to it. Another thing to point that occurs a lot is has a particular setting that makes the logo unique. For example, Paramount's logo has it blend in with the mountain it self to make it the log itself. Another example is Universal and how it uses earth as its main logo focus. Plus because of this it fits with the film title as its called "Universal". Dreamworks too follows this by having a man fish on the edge of a crescent moon.
